Pasadena Community Rallies Around a Local Young Man
Holiday spirits of good cheer and giving filled the air on Thursday Dec 13, 2012 at Two Rivers Steak & Fish House in Pasadena. BmoreChix, a website for female sports fans, hosted its 2nd Annual Holiday Xpress Happy Hour for their fans, Two Rivers patrons and supporters of local residents The Mack Family.
For many the joy of the evening was meeting Alex Mack and his wonderful family. Alex, 21 year old Pasadena man, sustained traumatic brain and body injuries in a 2011 car accident. In less than two years Alex has amazed his medical team and delighted his family with the progress of his recovery. On Thursday evening Alex walked into Two Rivers with a huge grin on his face. He was overjoyed to announce that for the first time in 18months he was cleared of all future hospital visits. He had survived a month long coma; several surgeries; six plus months of inpatient therapy (which included learning to speak and walk again) and months of outpatient rehabilitation. Proud of his success and grateful for the support that he continues to receive he was all smiles and hugs as he greeted new friends and old. The warm and heartfelt appreciation of the Mack family radiated throughout the restaurant.
“It is touching to see the community reach out and support such an awesome young man and his family”, expressed Two Rivers marketing manager Michelle Piefer, “You look into Alex’s eyes and you can see his confidence and determination. His positive energy and attitude are an inspiration to all.”
The fun filled event featured a raffle for Alex’s trust which provides him ongoing financial assistance as he continues to recover. The raffle raised over $500 for The Alex V Mack Trust hosted by CaringBridge. Sponsors* of the raffle included: Baltimore Raven Bernard Pollard, Stone City Designs, Raimondi’s Florist, G’day Pet Care, and Reliable Churchill Distributors. The evening also included holiday shopping with local business Word of Mouth Style, and a visit from Bob Haynie of 105.7fmTheFan. Guests donated new toys for Kennedy Krieger Institute patients.
