The following was submitted by Jen O’Sullivan with the Bodkin PTA.

On Friday May 25, Bodkin Elementary will hold their annual Field Day - with a twist.  The theme of the event is centered around the upcoming Olympic Games which will be held in London beginning in July. 

Physical Education teacher Michelle Corey has created stations named after and centered around real Olympic events and each classroom of students will be assigned a country. 

The day will begin with Opening Ceremonies where each class will march in bearing the flag of their country. Bodkin’s Advanced Band will play the Olympic theme. 

Per Olympic tradition, Greece will lead the parade and it will end with the host country England marching in. 

Classroom teachers will teach facts about the countries involved, which range from Lithuania to Barbados. 

Mrs. Corey stated, " The opportunity for teachers to pre teach lessons on a wide range of countries will enrich the event beyond the spirit of competition".

The day's events will begin after the Opening Ceremonies which begin at 9:30.
