Police: 2 Bull Dogs Shot After Attacking Boy

Police shot the dogs after one attacked a 7-year-old boy in Pasadena.

Anne Arundel County police shot two bull dogs after one attacked a 7-year-old boy in Pasadena on Saturday. The boy was flown to Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore.

According to Lt. James Fredericks, a "hysterical" call came in at 5:37 p.m. on Saturday with a report that a boy was bit by a dog. Police arrived to a home in the 3400 block of Barnsley Court in Pasadena at 5:39 p.m. and found a 7-year-old boy still being attacked by one bull dog.

The officer shot the dog attacking the boy, according to police. The second dog reportedly turned on the officer and was also shot. Animal Control came out to the home and euthanized both dogs, Fredericks said.

The 7-year-old boy was flown to Johns Hopkins Children's Center. His condition is unknown at this time. The officer and the homeowner were not injured, according to police.

Actually, the dogs were trained. They were very, very sweet dogs. It doesnt matter how well animals are trained, they are animals. Sometimes fluke things happen. So if you don't know the facts, the people, or the dogs, shut your mouth. It's a traumatizing experience for everyone that was involved.

Yes you hit it on the head..animals will be animals..this is why high risk animals should not be allowed in neighbourhoods that are suburb...there should be some rule - 4 miles in between a pitbull or any high risk animal.. Im thankful Ive never had to live beside any one with large high risk dogs...If people want to endanger themseleves and thier children.. well thats thier right..

Keep big dogs away from small children... The child had no voice in the decision to have the dog, but he is the one who suffered. Not the adults

Stupid people in Maryland?? No surprise!! People need to have more common sense and take personal responsibility for their pets and their children. Maryland also has the worst drivers ANYWHERE!! No one knows how to use their turn signals (it doesn't matter if you're in the turn lane or not) it should be a force of habit to do it even if no one is around. It requires more thinking to think about if you should use your turn signal or not. People in Maryland also new to use their headlights at ALL times!! Even if its sunny out your eyes need time to adjust to a darker road so you won't have time to notice someone without their lights on. Cops are the worst because they enforce the law but wot use their turn signals or headlights!! (Careless & stupid) they shouldn't even be a cop if they are supposed to set a good example but they don't and they can't after all like I said its Maryland were talking about where everyone thinks the traffic laws don't apply to them!! LOL

Rachael shut up if they trained their dogs then why were they so aggressive and why didn't the owners do anything to stop the dogs if they were trained?? stupid!! The dog owners were probably like yourself don't have any common sense and always make excuses for themselves. I hope the parents of that little boy sue the dog owners!! As for the little boy I hope he's okay.

First off; you are whistling through your butt hole until you've had a young child attacked by an iresponsible owners dog. Many years ago when my child was attacked by a dog the owner lied to cover the fact that two other children were attacked. The truth came out through animal control and the dog was eventually euthanized. I don't believe anything the owners say after an atack occurrs because they know when a dog is dangerous; they just refuse to own up to it. They are in butt covering mode.My neighbor acted like it was my fault that her dog came on my property and attacked my child. We never spoke again as neighbors. In hind sight I should have sued her ass off the grid. I didn't even get the hospital bill paid by this scoffer. I say sue them until they squeal and they will think twice about having their property protected by a Cujo dog

Yes they were well trained to protect the property according to the owner in this interview:

I get training a dog to protect the property but try crating the dogs before you know someone is coming over. A little common sense goes a long way.

There is no reason to have dogs as a means of sucurity in a rural area..how about a home security system..that is a poor excuse for having a animal..this is not the wild wild west or Alaska ..

Mark, Obviously you are a very negative and unhappy person. 1st off the dogs were trained and showed no aggression towards people in the past. The owner of the dogs were not home, it was the owners girlfriend and her nephew that were attacked (my cousin). Not only did she do something to stop the dogs but she put herself between the dog and the child...She saved his life. Maybe the dogs sensed fear or something. You know nothing of them so how can you comment. And as for your other rambling.....What the hell does turn signals, headlights and police setting good examples have to do with this article.

I agree Patty, Why is the person talking off subject? The bad car accident that claimed 4 lives was last week..

Patty mohr: what does headlights, turn Signals and police officers setting good examples have to do with this article?? Simple: personal responsibility and common sense, neither one was used when this little boy was hurt. The owners did not train their dogs at least not to be anything but aggressive. You are obviously a very negative and unhappy person. LOL

You couldn't have moved to a neighboring state and criticized Maryland drivers. There are plenty of bad drivers in Maryland but the surrounding states...that's some serious bad driving. The primary ignorance in Maryland is who we vote for...but that's a story for another day.

Pitbulls are a hot topic for good reason..when your child is killed or injured there is a reason for not wanting this animal in your neighbourhood..They are mistreated and have a bad rap..but in the end a childs life is worth more..

So sad, I pray the little boy is doing well!! Regardless of breed/trained/not trained etc any dog can change in a split second. Its an animal! The more important thing here is that the little boy is okay. I'm sure the owners feel bad enough, without them having to deal with getting bashed on a website!

Well let them get bashed on a website..how many kids have to die or be injured before this insanity with dogs stop? We buy carseats..are tax dollar pays for crossings guards and regulated child appproved products at stores, yet kids get killed by dogs? In America? Something has to change..tougher laws..more jail time and less high risk dogs..is the only way

@Nancy I couldn't agree more!
@Deborah YOU'RE the reason, family pets are getting killed all over this country!! Pitbulls are nanny dogs, if they are aggressive, it's because people are training them to be! I am very educated when it comes to pitbulls because I've had two and I want to work with them! Meet a pitbull with good owners before you sit there and bash them or the owners! Just because it says bull dog does NOT mean it is a pitbull!! There are many types of "bull" dogs! American Pitbull terrier, the American Bulldog, Olde English Bulldogge, Australian Bulldog and the French Bulldog....that's only a few!

Beth, Wow-- " Im the reason family pets are getting killed all over the county" Ive never owned a pitbull ..I have had many unwanted dogs from the spca and giveaways..many with genetic problems that didnt last a year..I have gone through 1000s of dollars in carpets and hard wood floors ,vet bills and heartache,,I know that if my child was maimed by an animal no matter what the breed it would be heartbreaking..So unless you have a child that was injured or killed by a out of control animal how could you possible relate..my story is my own..have awonderful Holiday..:
