I decided to change up the weekly Five Things column. Instead of listing five semi-interesting events, (let's face it, some of which you didn’t care about at all) I have decided to restructure a bit in order to provide you with more useful and newsworthy information.
1. The Weather
It seems as through Mother Nature has finally decided to give us a break. According to the Weather Channel, Pasadena should see much milder temperatures this week with highs in the upper 80s. The temperature is not expected to hit the 90s.
2. Biggest Story from the Weekend
If you were out an about enjoying your weekend you may have missed some news. Don’t worry; here is a recap of the weekend’s biggest story for the Pasadena area.
BGE said Sunday afternoon it has restored service to all of the nearly 748,000 customers that lost power in the aftermath of last week's violent storms. According to the online BGE outage map, there were less than 100 Anne Arundel County residents without power on Sunday.
Upcoming Events in Pasadena
I decided to continue to share some upcoming events with you, but choose to focus on more newsworthy ones.
3. Fishing Derby
The Pasadena Sport Fishing Group will host a kids fishing derby at Downs Park at 8 a.m. Saturday. There is a registration fee of $5 per child, but the fee will be refunded if you show up on Saturday to fish. For more information see the event listing.
4. Summer Concert
Since temperatures are supposed to be much milder this week, Downs Park should be able to host its outdoor concert at 6 p.m. Sunday. (The last two concerts have been canceled due to the heat.) This week’s show will feature the Back Pages Band, a '60s tribute band with a unique repertoire, consisting of classic music from the Golden Decade of the rock era.
5. Out of Town Event
If the events in Pasadena don’t strike your interest, here is another one that is a little outside of town.
Annapolis Irish Festival
The second annual Annapolis Irish Festival is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Anne Arundel County fairgrounds in Crownsville. The festival will feature music and plenty of kid-friendly activities. The cost is $15. For more information please see the event listing.
