Body of Missing Boater Recovered
The Philadelphia man went missing on Monday after strong winds caused him to fall into the water while sailing.
The Maryland Natural Resource Police (NRP) announced Thursday that they recovered the body of the man who went missing after a sailing incident on Monday.
A press release from the NRP said that Jason Ryman, 27, of Philadelphia was boating Monday in the Six Foot Knoll area of the Chesapeake Bay, north of Gibson Island.
A storm with high wind gusts reportedly caused the sailboat to tilt to the right. According to NRP, Ryman and Hannah Kahn, 26, of Philadelphia, slid off the boat and into the water.
Kahn was rescued by the boat's operator on Monday, but the search for Ryman was called off late on Monday evening and resumed on Tuesday. NRP recovered Ryman’s body at about 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
According to NRP, Ryman's body will be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy.
