Campers Participate in Cardboard Boat Regatta
Children celebrated summer fun on Thursday during the Y of Central Maryland’s Adventurer and Grand Adventurer camps.
Last week, 40 children from the Y of Central Maryland’s Adventurer and Grand Adventurer camps participated in a Cardboard Boat Regatta at Camp Whippoorwill in Pasadena.
Campers became professional boat builders and sailors for the day as they worked in teams to construct boats made from cardboard, which they then raced. Each team created a cardboard boat, which needed to be able to hold one to one person.
Following the boat races, an awards ceremony was held where campers received awards in the following categories: Most Creative Boat, Fastest Boat, Titanic Award (Fastest Sinker) and Teamwork.
