Delays on Mountain Road Due to Paving
Construction crews have a lane closed past Chesapeake High School.
Travelers of Mountain Road, just past Chesapeake High School, should expect some delays.
Construction crews are repaving parts of Mountain Road beyond the school and down toward Pinehurst Road near Downs Park. Crews have the road down to one lane and long lines of cars were waiting to get by around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday.
If you are planning to use this section of Mountain Road in your travels, you should plan on some delays.
Patch has asked the Department of Public Works to estimate how much longer the paving will take, and will update this story when information becomes available.

The delays are up to an hour long traffic backs up from longpoint rd to 100 and continues down 100. Children stuck at school for 30-45 minutes. This paving needs to be done at night.

C Busby - The county is not paving the road. I called them originally and was then directed to someone at the state level. I am still waiting to find out more information. I will update the article as soon as I know more. Thanks for your comment!

State Hwy stated once a contract is bid on they cant change it so motorist and children will be stuck. State hwy needs to call all the parents of school children and explain why their kids arw stuck at school for an hour

It says parts of Mountain Rd. past the school. Okay, why is the road ready for paving past North Carolina Ave to 100. They are making like it is only past the school they are doing at least 80% of Mountain Rd.
