Friday's Olympic Viewing Guide

Here’s a recap of Thursday's winners and a roundup of Friday’s Olympic events you don’t want to miss.

 

As the Olympic action continued in London on Thursday, so did victories for the U.S.

The beach volleyball and water polo teams racked up some more wins, and the U.S. took home medals in swimming and gymnastics.

If you missed some of Thursday’s events here’s a brief recap (for a complete list of results for Wednesday’s events visit NBC’s website):

  • U.S. beach volleyball pair Jen Kessy and April Ross defeated Spain three sets to one.
  • Judo competitor Kayla Harrison won gold in the 78-kilogram title.
  • The U.S. water polo team defeated Great Britain 13-7.
  • U.S. gymnast Gabby Douglas took gold in the individual all-around competition.
  • Michael Phelps earned gold and Ryan Lochte earned silver in the 200-meter individual medley.
  • Tyler Clary received a gold medal in the 200-meter fly while Ryan Lochte won bronze.
  • The U.S. women's rowing team won gold in the women's eight.
  • Rebecca Soni won gold and set a world record in the 200-meter breast stoke.
  • Men's volleyball defeated Brazil three sets to one to remain undefeated.

More action will continue Friday, and once again Patch has rounded up a schedule of a few events you wont’s want to miss.

If you want to head out on Friday night but don't want to miss the Olympic action, an employee from Fifer's Seafood on Fort Smallwood Road confirmed they will be showing the games. From 2-6 p.m. you can enjoy Fifer's happy hour, which features 1-pound large steamed shrimp for $8, and half-price appetizers.

Fifer's will also have the following drink specials. 

  • $4.50 bombs
  • $2.25 regular bottles and pints 
  • $3.00 premium drafts and Heineken bottles

10:45 a.m. Swimming qualifiers NBC
12 p.m. Women's beach volleyball — USA vs. Switzerland NBC
2 p.m. Boxing NBC Sports
2:30 p.m. Women's water polo — USA vs. China NBC
4:15 p.m. Track and field qualifiers NBC

In prime time Friday, the men's 50-meter final. Also, Missy Franklin and Elizabeth Beisel will go head-to-head in the 200-meter back stroke. And Michael Phelps will race in the 100-meter fly, which he said will be his last individual Olympic event.
