Second Arrest Made in Boat Battery Thefts
A second Pasadena man was arrested for allegedly stealing marine batteries after another man was arrested last month.
A Pasadena teen was arrested by the Maryland Natural Resource Police (NRP) on Sunday in connection to a series of boat battery thefts in Anne Arundel County.
This is the second arrest in the investigation stemming from incidents reported during the summer. NRP announced the first arrest of a Pasadena man last month.
NRP officers obtained a warrant and arrested 18-year-old Ryan Andrew Valunas on Sunday. Valunas allegedly took boat batteries with 21-year-old Cody Jay Tyler Dudley, who was arrested on Oct. 24. NRP said both Valunas and Tyler are from Pasadena.
If your boat battery was stolen between July 20 and Aug. 2, you may call NRP at 410-295-4600, between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to claim any batteries collected as evidence.
For those who already reported a battery theft, contact your area office as soon as possible.
Marine batteries do not having any identifying characteristics so NRP encourages boat owners to etch their Maryland registration number into their battery. That way, it can be identified if stolen.
