Anne Arundel Community Concert Association
This nonprofit, established in 1951, is part of a network of neighborhood community concert associations throughout the United States. It is run by volunteers who are dedicated to presenting a wide variety of high caliber artists catering to a diverse range of audience tastes at affordable prices. Anne Arundel Special Olympics
Anne Arundel County Special Olympics is a non-profit organization providing sports programs to over 300 eligible athletes, ages eight to adult, with a cognitive delay or developmental disability. The program includes a variety of sports including Bocce, Cycling, Duckpin Bowling, Softball, Swimming, Track & Field; all training takes place locally and is offered to athletes free of charge. Volunteers, 16 and older, are needed as coaches in the evenings, to assist with special events, regional competitions, fundraising and more. Camp Blaze Children’s Fair, Sat., May 4, 2013

- 9 am – 3 pm, Sat., May 4th, Camp Blaze 27th Annual Children’s Fair: Camp Blaze needs volunteers to assist with the Annual Children’s Fair to be held on May 4 from 9am–3 pm at the Big Vanilla Athletic Club, 1209 Ritchie Highway, Arnold. Highlights include health screenings, Extreme Sports– free clinics and demonstrations throughout the day, and a silent auction to benefit Special Needs Children and much more. If you are 13 years old or older, looking for community service hours, or just a fun way to give back to the community volunteer on Fri.,May 3, 2 pm– 4 pm for set up or 5–8pm for decorating or Sat. Centro de Ayuda
The Center of Help is a non-profit which provides a variety of social services to the Latino community in the City of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County with support offices in Annapolis and Glen Burnie. Volunteers are needed to help tutor/mentor, teach ESOL classes, help with administrative duties, and more. Epilepsy Foundation, April 20, 2013 Walk, Washington, D.C.
The Epilepsy Foundation is the national voluntary nonprofit agency dedicated solely to the welfare of the almost 3 million people with epilepsy in the U.S. and their families. The organization works to ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences; to improve how people with epilepsy are perceived, accepted and valued in society; and to promote research for a cure. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks prior to and on walk day for registration, distribution of T-shirts, set up, route management, information tent, expo set up, kids area, food and water distribution, and much more. Historic London Town and Gardens
This Edgewater historic site seeks persons interested in history and/or horticulture to become docents, historic interpreters and gardeners at this 17th-18th century tobacco port. Volunteers give site tours, house tours or demonstrate colonial crafts and daily life. They may work in historic or ornamental gardens. Historic London Town and Gardens will celebrate Maryland's birthday by offering $1 admission per day to the public this weekend. Smithsonian Environmental Research Center
SERC is seeking volunteers to plant an experimental forest called "BiodiversiTREE." Volunteers are needed from February through May, especially on weekdays. Weekend positions will also be available. While this is a long term project, we will consider any volunteer who is willing to commit one or more days to this effort. Volunteer duties will include working in teams to mark plots, plant trees, construct deer fences, and collect data. Volunteers should be detail-oriented, hard-working, and prepared to work outside in winter/spring conditions at our site in Edgewater, MD. Contact: Dan Gustafson at 443.482.2217 or email@example.com. - 10 am-Noon, Sat.-Sun., May 18-19, 2013, SERC Family Days: SERC is presenting a weekend of family events with each day featuring behind-the-scenes glimpses of research and science programs. Visit with SERC researchers to learn about the fish and invertebrates found in the Bay or the new North American Orchid Conservation Center, explore how light affects plankton or how nutrients move into the Bay and the effects they’re having. Visitors may also register for one of three one-hour boat rides on the Rhode River, try their hand at seining or crabbing, visit an oyster bar community and its creatures, or create a take-home craft. Volunteers with expertise in medicine, engineering and technology are needed to develop unique solutions that assist people with disabilities manage their daily life. Volunteers age 21 and up who are active or retired medical/rehabilitation professionals or those with engineering backgrounds are needed to assess disabilities and to design and build one-of-a-kind devices for clients with disabilities. Also needed are volunteers, age 16 and up, in Baltimore to work weekdays in the computer loan center testing, repairing, and refurbishing donated computer equipment. · 6/24-28/13 (Session 1), 7/8-12/13 (Session 2) or 7/15-19/13 (Session 3) Computer Arts Summer Camps: The summer camp is a week-long, inclusive, full day camp for children with and without disabilities, ages 7-14. It features computer-based activities that teach creativity, independent thinking, presentation skills, and literacy in a friendly and structured environment Campers will also be able to explore their creativity through painting, drawing, and other arts and crafts activities. In addition, each day children have an opportunity to work at their own individual computer station programmed and configured for their specific needs, document the days’ activities using digital cameras, camcorders, and take part in various field trips.
