What Should Fill This Vacant Business Space?
What would you like to see fill this empty Pasadena storefront located in Pastore’s Plaza?
When Pastore’s Deli closed in May 2011, many Pasadena residents were disappointed to be losing a local business.
A 7-Eleven recently took up residence in Pastore’s Plaza, the shopping center where Pastore’s Deli once stood. However, an open space still remains next to the 7-Eleven.
Personally, I am still hoping a Starbucks will come to Pasadena, or some other coffee shop with Wi-Fi. When I first took over as editor of Pasadena Patch, a few people told me they thought a second Panera would fill the plaza.
I’m not sure we need a second Panera, and the space now is too small, but a coffee shop might fit in nicely. Do you think another type of deli would succeed in the space?
What business would you like to see fill this vacant business space?

I don't believe that corner and parking lot could handle a Starbucks.

I totally agree with Amy. The entrances and exits are way to small to handle the traffic flow. Also the parking lot is way to small as well. This will cause a big traffic problem when cars start stopping on Mt. Road to wait to turn into the entrance while others are trying to exit or park.

That's a good point Butch. When I went to take this picture, it took me a good 8-10 minutes to turn left out of there when I was leaving. Thanks for your comment.

Any "popular" business would do the same. It's always been difficult to exit if you're turning left.

I agree with the other posters about that being a tough spot. The old gas staion near the other 7-11 (heading towards Catherine Avenue...across from a couple of houses and next to a snowball stand)...now THAT would be a great spot for a free-standing Starbucks or Coffee/Bakery Shop. It would be quite an undertaking though, I suppose! The owner/developer would have to probably knock the building down and maybe even have to deal with whatever may be underground.

I think Dr. Horne should take that space for a massage therapist or another item that is related to his great business. Dr. Horne has a great practice and is well respected by the Pasadena community. Brad Thomas

How about putting a Royal Farms store right next to it! Totally ridiculous, I know, but that is apparently exactly what is happening on Ft. Smallwood road where the old duck pin bowling alley is. From what I have been told, the bowling alley will be torn down, and a Royal Farms store will be built. OK, not a bad idea, but now the Rock Creek Diner is being torn down, and apparently a 7-11 is to be built there in it's place!?!?! I've never seen a Royal Farms right next to a 7-11. And what about the M&T bank that just closed right next to the old bowling alley? I wonder what will be built in it's place? A Wawa?
