The Anne Arundel County Department of Health offers a monthly report after inspecting restaurants and food service facilities to monitor conditions at each establishment.
The health department announced Friday that the Anne Arundel County Food Service Inspection Report for April 2013 is now on the website. View the current Food Service Inspection Report for a list of facilities inspected by the health department from April. 1-30. Of the 454 facilities inspected, 47 had critical food safety item violations that were corrected. There were no emergency closures during this period. See more:

Del. Steve Schuh was elected chairman of the Anne Arundel County General Assembly Delegation on Thursday.
State delegates from Anne Arundel County elected Del. Steve Schuh (R–Dist. 31) to chair the 15-member county delegation on Thursday. The Pasadena Republican has expressed interest in running for county executive in 2014. He now takes the chairmanship duties as Del. Nic Kipke takes on the role of House Minority Leader. "I am gratified to have the unanimous support of my colleagues," Schuh said in a statement. "This is an exciting opportunity to lead our delegation in making Anne Arundel County a better place to live and work." In a poll of Patch readers, Steve Schuh was voted the second favorite candidate to win the county executive race, behind Laura Neuman, in 2014, as of 1 p.m. Thursday.

Gov. Martin O'Malley announced Wednesday that Frank Weathersbee, Anne Arundel County State's Attorney, will take a new role on the Maryland State Parole Commission in June. Weathersbee has served as state's attorney for Anne Arundel County for 25 years. "This moment comes with many mixed emotions," Weathersbee said in a statement. "I remain proud of the work I have done for Anne Arundel County and look forward to serving the state of Maryland in the years ahead." Gov. Martin O'Malley finished last among a field of 2016 Democratic Presidential hopefuls, according to a poll released by New England College. The poll released Tuesday by the New Hampshire-based college found that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton led the field with 65 percent of those surveyed saying they would vote for her in 2016. O'Malley finished last among the field of six with zero percent saying they would vote for the two-term Democratic Maryland governor. Rounding out the field is Vice President Joseph Biden with 10 percent, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren with 5 percent, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo with 4 percent and Massachusetts Gov. Dwyer pleaded guilty, seeking a lesser punishment in his trial on Tuesday.
A judge for the District Court in Annapolis sentenced Del. Don Dwyer (R–Pasadena) to 30 days in jail for driving a boat under the influence of alcohol, which led to a crash last August, reports The Capital-Gazette. On Monday, Dwyer announced his plan to plead guilty, but noted his subsequent involvement in an alcohol treatment program. The crash occurred on Aug. 22 between two boats on the Magothy River–one of which Dwyer was operating– and injured several people, including children. Dwyer himself suffered injuries to his foot and neck. In addition to jail time, Dwyer will pay a $1,000 fine and cooperate under one year of supervised probation, reports The Capital-Gazette.

State Del. Don Dwyer (R–Pasadena) said he "regrets" the boating incident that led to his arrest and the injury of several people on the Magothy River last August. Dwyer, whose blood alcohol content was reported at three times the legal limit, has admitted to drinking before his boat crashed into another boat, injuring seven people–including two children. Dwyer and his lawyer, David Fischer, told reporters Monday that the delegate plans to plead guilty in his trial that begins tomorrow, reports WJZ 13. Delegate Dwyer is addressing his upcoming trial for charges of being under the influence of alcohol while operating a boat.
State Delegate Don Dwyer (R–Pasadena) is addressing his drunken boating trial set for Tuesday—just one day before the trial begins, according to WBAL. Dwyer and his attorney, David Fischer, plan to speak Monday morning about charges that he was under the influence of alcohol last August while operating a boat that crashed and injured several people, including children. Natural Resources Police reported Dwyer's blood alcohol content was 0.24 at the time, which is three times the legal limit of 0.08. Dwyer, who is facing re-election in 2014, held a fundraiser on Saturday auctioning off two of his own personal guns, in opposition to recent calls for gun control legislation.

Members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department and local community shared their appreciation for Larry Tolliver, who is resigning after a second stretch as police chief.
Anne Arundel County Police Chief Larry Tolliver announced his resignation this week and the department honored his 40 years of service Friday morning at police headquarters in Millersville. Tolliver's resignation is effective May 21—there has not been an official announcement about who will replace him. More than 40 people, officers and civilian employees, gathered for a presentation of a plaque to Tolliver in appreciation for his decades of service in Anne Arundel County, according to police spokesperson Justin Mulcahy. "He reminded the crowd that people and relationships are most important," Mulcahy said.
