The Mason Dixon Master Chef Tournament is a multi-week, single-elimination tournament designed to showcase some of the area's finest executive chefs and restaurants.
Guests attending this exciting event will be more than just spectators, as they enjoy the unique experience of witnessing two spectacular area chefs battle it out in the prep kitchen right on the main floor. Each evening two chef teams go head-to-head to prepare an appetizer, entrée and dessert for each of three expert judges, as well as amuse bouche portions of their entrees for "Judging Experience" ticket holders and a few lucky randomly selected audience member judges. Their creations are scored on creativity, presentation and taste, and only one chef advances to the next round. At the end of this tournament only one of the 16 competing chefs will emerge as THE Mason Dixon Master Chef!
There will be two alternating Masters of Ceremonies for the event, Sergio Vitale and Richard Todd Karoll. Sergio Vitale, is returning as MC on Monday nights, he is a well-known Baltimore restaurateur and co-owner of Zagat’s highest scoring Italian restaurant in Maryland - Aldo’s. He also co-owns Chazz: A Bronx Original, with academy award winner Chazz Palminteri. Richard Todd Karoll will be MC on Tuesday evenings, the former cake decorator at Charm City Cakes was featured on the Food Network’s top-rated Ace of Cakes for two seasons. He is currently General Manager of the Red Star Restaurant Group in Baltimore.
Finally, and best of all, guests will be supporting a local charity, since 10% of the net proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland (http://www.mealsonwheelsmd.org/).
The event kicks off June 25th with two competitions held per week on Mondays and Tuesdays most weeks until September 10th. All events are held at Blobs Park Bavarian Biergarten, 8024 Max Blobs Park Road, Jessup, MD 20794 (http://www.blobspark.net), where guests can purchase authentic Bavarian cuisine from the historic Blob's Park menu or one of over 80 different beers from around the world stocked at the huge bar just a few feet away from the cooking action (wine and top-shelf liquors also available for purchase).
Event Timeline (6:00pm – 9:00pm)
6:00 p.m. – Happy Hour Begins (Complementary Appetizers & Wine Tasting, plus Drink Specials)
6:30 p.m. – Cold Prep Begins for the Competition
7:00 p.m. – Chef Competition Begins
8:00 p.m. – Judging Begins
