What Is the Best Gym in Pasadena Area?

Vote for your favorite place to exercise.

Most gym-goers have a love-hate relationship with the building full of exercise equipment.

As an avid exerciser myself, I know that when the alarm goes off at 6:30 a.m. I despise the gym with everything I have. However, when I am in the groove running on the treadmill with my iPod going, the gym becomes tolerable. And finally, when I am headed back home, satisfied with my workout, the gym is pretty awesome.

So, whether you love it, hate it, or can’t live without it, gyms can be very useful. What gym in Pasadena do you like to go to? Vote for your favorite and tell us why in the comments. Then be sure to check back on Friday to see who won.

This poll really needs more catagories....Transformations is by far the BEST all Women's gym in Pasadena and it can even give the coed gyms a run for their money...quite literally because it costs at least 1/2 as much to belong here...sometime 1/3 as much. The people are what makes this gym so special...you don't get that same personal relationship in the big gyms.

I've been a member of Big Vanilla for over 3 years and just love it! The trainers and staff are friendly and helpful with always a smile or kind word - the BEST! Big Vanilla offers a large variety of classes for everyone, has lots of cardio/weight training equipment, as well as a gorgeous pool. I especially enjoy participating in the 90 Day Challenges offered to both members and non-members. It's a place where you feel comfortable.

I disagree about all bigger gyms lacking personal relationships. You can totally get personal relationships at Big Vanilla. They have great customer service and lots of stuff for my family to do together. Yes, it's a big gym, but it's locally owned and operated and is all about supporting the local community. None of the other gyms can even come close to providing they type of facility that Big Vanilla has to offer and I think they membership dues are right on point with all they have to offer. We love it there.

As one of your coaches for the 90-day challenge, I couldn't agree more! We're happy to have you here, and it's been awesome witnessing your success and taking part in the challenges and workouts with you. Water Aerobics challenge on Friday in that beautiful pool. I can't wait!

Is it just me or last time I went past snap fitness it had closed up shop. Is it open again?
Kaitlyn Carr March 06, 2012 at 01:01 PM
Thank you for bringing that to our attention. It is closed, and has been removed from the list.

I was a member at Big V, but the cost each month weighed too heavily on the family budget. Recently I set up shop at Transformations, since my husband never went to Big V anyway (althougth we paid for him) this has become the perfect spot to work out, drop my kids off in the play room, excellent classes and friendly staff. You get a lot if bang for your buck at Transformations.

The poll, although not scientific isnt really a reflection of which gym is better, the fact that Big Vanilla alone has probably 3 or 4 times the memberships based on their size, of course they are going to get more votes. Personally I think whatever gym you are a member of and really like is the best gym.

Big Vanilla is an awful place that treats employees in a poor manner. They were involved in a sexual harassment suit recently where they paid out $161,000 to four women who were fired after complaining about sexual harassment by the "Executive Director". Do you want to patronize a place like that? Think of your wives and daughters!
