Report: Anne Arundel County Top in State for Generating Tourism Money

The county saw a more than 7 percent increase in money from tourism between 2010 and 2011, according to a new report.

A new report by travel research group Tourism Economics says their most recent study shows Anne Arundel County led all other counties in the state, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Tourists spent $3.2 billion around the county in 2011, and increase of 7.2 percent, the report says.

These numbers do not reflect tourism dollars generated by the Maryland Live casino in Hanover, since it did not open until June of 2012, but proponents of the casino said it would be a destination for gamblers from outside the county and state.

Patch has reported several month-to-month revenue increases in the casino's first year, and any impact of Maryland Live would be reflected in the next annual report by Tourism Economics.

That's because it is the most conservative county in all of Maryland. Let's just hope and pray we can keep the progressive socialists at a minimum, so AA county can stay prosperous. Soon as the progressive socialists smell money they'll be trying to figure out how to steal it.

Sorry, but AA county is not "the most conservative county" in all of Maryland, that'd probably be Garrett, or Carroll, or Harford, or Queen Anne's, or Caroline, or Worcester, etc. etc. I don't think our tourism success comes from any political ideology, but from our miles of natural coastline, historical buildings, and the fact that we have Maryland's biggest airport. Just think of how much our tourism revenue will increase when the 2013 numbers come out, reflecting the new casino!

I stand corrected, Anne Arundel is ONE of the most conservative counties in Maryland. But if you don't think our tourism success comes from any political ideology, how do you explain Prince George's county or Baltimore City? Both have just as much to offer in tourism, but both are on the brink of going bankrupt. The conservative counties have managed to conserve their revenues. Do you think casino revenue will be maintained when all of the new liberal progressive taxes in the state take effect? Rain Tax, gas tax, and all of the new taxes in Obamacare will take a huge chunk out of everyones revenue. Do you think Stephanie Rollins-Blake is going to lose any sleep, when O'Malley, Miller and Busch redistribute the transportation and bay funds to bail out her incompetent progressivism?
