Greene Turtle To Host Torrey Smith

The former Terp, now wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens, will be signing autographs at the Greene Turtle in Pasadena.

As a University of Maryland graduate and passionate football fan, I was elated when the Baltimore Ravens drafted wide receiver Torrey Smith in last year’s NFL draft.

When Smith was drafted, I was watching on TV from the bar at Outback Steakhouse in Bel Air with my parents. When the Ravens pick came up, and I heard them say Torrey Smith’s name, I screamed in the crowded bar and began clapping and high-fiving strangers. I was so excited my former schoolmate was coming to Baltimore. And now Smith is coming to Pasadena.

On April 25 at 7 p.m., Smith will be at on Magothy Beach Road to sign autographs for fans.

Greene Turtle manager Edward Funkhouser said those who wish to have Smith’s autograph will need to purchase a $35 ticket in advance.

“The tickets are going fast, but we still have some left,” said Funkhouser. “If you’d like a ticket you can come [to the Greene Turtle] and purchase one. You will need one ticket for each thing you would like signed.”

If you aren’t interested in autographs, you can still visit the Greene Turtle for dinner on April 25, but you should expect a crowd.

How do you feel about NFL players charging for autographs?

I'll only paid for 1 autograph: a signed poster by Brooks Robinson. Brooks had long been retired at that point. Sorry, not paying for Torrey.
