Murdered CHS Principal Body Sent to Maryland

The former Chesapeake High School principal was found dead in Davie FL.

The body of former principal William Norman was returned to Maryland last week, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

, was killed and found floating in a canal in Davie, FL on July 5. Two Florida teens have confessed to beating Norman to death, according to The Sentinel.

One of the teens, Corey David Weintraub, of Tamarac FL., reportedly lived in a house owned by Norman. The Sentinel reported “neighbors said they had seen two young men living in the house, and one neighbor reported that Norman had recently argued loudly with his tenants.”

According to The Sentinel, the two teens confessed to beating Norman in the house. The teens reportedly told police they "wrapped Norman’s body in a blanket and a piece of carpet" before dumping it into a canal.

Police said the two teens had "planned to use Norman's credit cards to loot his bank account," according to The Sentinel.

Norman was principal at Chesapeake High from 1976 until 1983, according to Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) spokesman Bob Mosier. The school’s auditorium is named after Norman.

According to The Baltimore Sun, a group of Chesapeake High School alumni have joined together to create a scholarship fund in memory of Norman.

Norman started working in the school system in 1961 and was principal at Old Mill and before Chesapeake opened. After his time at Chesapeake, Norman worked in the central office before retiring in 1989, Mosier said.
