Fire on Fairwood Drive Displaces 2

It took more than 40 firefighters to battle the blaze on Monday.

Firefighters responded to Fairwood Drive Monday night for the report of a house fire.

The incident occurred around 8:14 p.m. Monday in the 8300 block of Fairwood Drive, according to Lt. Keith Hamilton.

Firefighters arrived to the scene to find smoke coming from the front of the building. It took more than 40 firefighters about a half-hour to get the blaze under control, Hamilton said.

There were no reports of injuries, but the Red Cross was called to assist two adults who were displaced. According to Hamilton, the fire caused more than $100,000 in damage and the cause is under investigation.
