Smoke Wafts into County from Kent Island Fire

A huge brush fire created plumes of smoke that enveloped the region on Sunday.

UPDATE (8:30 p.m.)—Smell smoke outside? It's coming from a massive brush fire in Queen Anne's County that started Sunday morning.

The Baltimore Sun reported Sunday night that the seven-alarm fire swept through about 40 acres, burning for nearly 12 hours, and it's expected to smolder through the night into Monday morning.

Anne Arundel County firefighters are reportedly assisting Queen Anne's County firefighters in battling the massive blaze in southern Kent Island.

ABC2 News reported that a huge brush fire started Sunday morning south of Kent Island near Romancoke Road. There have been no injuries reported as a result of the blaze, officials said on Sunday afternoon. The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.

Anne Arundel County firefighters have been dispatched to assist in fighting the fire, and CBS Baltimore is reporting that aerial reconnaissance is being used to aid firefighters.

We still smell smoke and have ashes on our boat. Seen a helicopter carrying water at 5:30.

Would be nice to get an update considering numerous friends have been evacuated and have no clue what's going on!!

We could see smoke as we came back from OC at around 6 pm today
