From 8:30 to about 11 a.m., drivers should be prepared for traffic delays on MD Route 2 (Ritchie Highway) and U.S. Route 50 eastbound from the Severn River Bridge to the Bay Bridge, the department says.
The slowdowns will be related to the Anne Arundel County Professional Fire Fighters Burn Foundation charity ride. The event is expected to draw up to 1,000 motorcyclists. The ride will begin at 9 a.m. and will proceed across the Bay Bridge no later than 10 a.m.
This year’s event will depart from the Anne Arundel Community College, parking lot “F” adjacent to West Campus Drive. The ride will travel west along West Campus Drive, turn left onto Governor Ritchie Highway (MD Rt. 2 south), merge onto U.S. Route 50 eastbound, eventually crossing the Bay Bridge and ending at Mears Point Marina in Kent Narrows.
Riders should arrive at the community college no later than 8:45 a.m.
Drivers on the following routes will be most affected:
- MD Route 2 (Ritchie Highway) between College Parkway and U.S. Route 50.
- U.S. Route 50 eastbound from the Severn River Bridge to the William Preston Lane Jr.
- Memorial Bridge (Bay Bridge)
