Still baffled by the new stormwater fees?
County Executive Laura Neuman will host a series of informational meetings where residents can get answers to their questions. The next such meeting will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the Heritage Office Complex in Annapolis.
Neuman and members of the county’s Department of Public Works will field questions from residents and lay out the basics of the stormwater fees, which were implemented in July.
Neuman has been critical of the fees since taking office. In March, her veto to terminate legislation enacting stormwater fees was overridden in a 5-2 vote by the council. And earlier this month, she asked the federal government for aid in overcoming the financial burden of the stormwater plan as mandated by the state government.
In a press release for the meetings, Neuman said:
"We may not be able to do anything about the tax, but we will make sure residents know how the County arrived at the assessment numbers and how their hard-earned dollars will be used.”
The third and final meeting will be Oct. 2 from 6-7 p.m. at Ft. Meade High School.
