Anne Arundel Schools Open 2 Hours Late Thursday

Schools will dismiss at their normal time, instead of having a two-hour early dismissal as originally scheduled.

All Anne Arundel County Public Schools will open two hours late on Thursday due to inclement weather.

Since high school exams were scheduled for Thursday, the school day will shift and schools will dismiss at their normal times instead of having a two-hour early dismissal.

There will be no half-day pre-kindergarten or ECI programs. Full-day pre-kindergarten programs will be in session, but will start two hours late.

My favorite part of a snow day is the 5:30am automated call from the school system to let us know we can sleep in two more hours. I still think this is one of the more a--inine things that the school system does in this TV/radio/web/email/texting/facebook/twitter world.

I'm still trying to figure out the logic of 2-hour early dismissal on all high school exam days. This disrupts all elementary and middle schools students as well. Are they telling us there is absolutely nothing the high school students could at school to productively utilize their time and complete a full day of class?
