The girls basketball team came out on top once again against cross-town rivals on Friday night. The Cougars defeated the Eagles 70-52 during senior night at Chesapeake.
The last time the two teams met, back on Jan. 6, Chesapeake (2-16) defeated the Eagles (0-20) 52-41, the Cougars came out on top again thanks in large part to the play from senior Anna McMahon.
“Anna [McMahon] played a really great game,” said head coach Melanie Herget. "That was the best shooting night she’s had. Just the confidence she had tonight to not only take big shots but hit those shots was great.”
McMahon has played varsity basketball at Chesapeake for two years, and was honored with fellow senior Ajee Lomax after Friday night’s game. Both players were honored on the court with their parents.
“This game tonight has to be my favorite memory at Chesapeake,” said Lomax. “The crowd got us pumped and we came out ready to play. This game was for the seniors and we needed this game.”
Lomax has played basketball at Chesapeake for four years and plans to attend Frostburg State University and study computer science.
McMahon said she hopes to go to Towson and major in special education.
