Northeast High Spring Break Extended Due to Renovations

Despite the three extra days of spring break, the school year will not be extended.

Students at Northeast High School will have an extra three days of spring/Easter break as the school continues to undergo a $101 million renovation, according to a press release from Anne Arundel County Schools spokesman Bob Mosier.

There will be no classes for Northeast students Friday, March 30, Tuesday, April 10, and Wednesday, April 11. Classes will resume on Thursday, April 12. Students will not have to make up the days at the end of the school year.

Throughout the year, classes have been conducted in the building while renovations have been ongoing, but the additional days are needed to allow for the relocation of furnishings into newly renovated areas of the building.

To accommodate the move and allow classrooms to be set up for instruction, the Maryland State Department of Education has granted a three-day waiver of the 180-school day requirement, according to the release.  The waiver means that Northeast students are still scheduled to end the school year on Tuesday, June 12, the same day as other county students.

Considering there really was no snow, i'm guessing they'll just treat them as snow days waiver or no waiver from the State :)
