O's From the Booth - May 15, 2012 - PM

O"s Yankees recap Tuesday May 15th. O's win 5-2 to stay in 1st place.

Good evening O's fans. O' what a great night it was in Charm City.  Wei-Yen Chen baffled the Yankee line up tonight for 7 innings.  Chen only gave up 4 hits and 2 earned runs while striking out 4.  Chen's parents were on hand Tuesday night to witness his brilliant game against the Bronx Bombers.

The O's were able to get on the board as Adam Jones went deep off Sabathia in the 2nd inning.  The Orioles are now 10-1 in games that Adam Jones hits a home run.  Eight of 11 of the home runs that Jones has hit has either tied or gave the Orioles the lead. He is truly the heart of this team right now.

Tolleson, Weiters, and Hardy all added doubles for the O's.  The Yankees got their 2 runs in the top half of the 7th on a questionable home run by Curtis Granderson.

Xavier Avery went back to the wall and when he reached up the ball was caught by a fan who appeared to reach over the fence to grab the ball.  Guess what, it was a Yankee fan.  Hmmmm, does this sound familiar. Maybe it was Jeffrey Mayer's brother!!!  I feel that this should have been reviewed.  Showalter said after the game he could have challenged but felt very strongly that it would not have been over turned.  I would have done it anyway as you have nothing to lose.

This cut the game to 4-2.  Buck Showalter let Chen finish the 7th.  Then, in a classy move, Buck let Chen come out to start the 8th but did not let him throw a pitch.  He wanted to Chen to be able to walk off the field to a well deserved standing ovation with his parents in the crowd for the first time from Taiwan. What a classy move by Buck.

The O's were able to add an insurance run in the 8th as Adam Jones scored on a pass ball. This made it 5-2 heading into the 9th.  Jason Johnson came in to close the door.  He is really starting to make some noise around the league.  He remains perfect in save opportunities.

The O's were able to get a great bounce back win tonight to stay in 1st place as Tampa Bay came back to beat the Jays 4-3.  They will not give the O's any breathing room.  The O's now head to Kansas City for a short 2 game series.  The Royals are 11-6 since April 25th and playing good baseball.  Lets hope they go out and take two from the Royals before going to DC for the battle of the Parkway.  Go O's!!!!!!!!!
