Good evening Orioles fans. I have been crazy busy and not had a chance to write.
Well the last couple games comes down to the old saying, Pitching wins. The O's starting pitching did not do well Sunday or Monday night.
Wei Yen Chen was spotted a 3-0 lead and ended up giving up 6 runs in 4 1/3 innings. The O's were able to get on top quickly on Sunday but it was all Nationals after that. Hey, we will take 2/3 every time.
Monday night the O's were down 2-0 early but the O's battled back with 4 runs on 3 hits in the 3rd inning. Chris Davis launched a solo shot in the 4th to make it 5-2.
The Red Sox battled right back started off by a David Ortiz home run in the 6th inning. They went on to score 2 more tying the game 5-5 and chased starter Tommy Hunter. This is the 2nd time this year Hunter has given up a lead to the Red Sox.
Kevin Gregg was tagged with the loss though giving up 2 runs on 3 hits in the 7th inning. The O's tried to battle back in the 8th. Markakis, Jones, and Wieters all singled to lead off the 8th. Markakis scored to make it 8-6. That is as close as it would get as Davis grounded out, Betemit popped up, and Nick Johnson struck out. The O's went 3 up 3 down in the 9th and dropped the first game of this 3 game series.
The O's still hold a two game lead in the East as the Blue Jays downed Tampa tonight. The O's look to Brian Matusz to put a halt to this little 2 game skid. I know it is early but these games become very big within the division.
The O's have done a great job thus far putting ends to losing real quick. That has been the difference this year. They have been able to avoid that huge losing streak of 8-10 games. Let's hope the O's bats can strike early and often tomorrow and get back in the win column. Let's Go O's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
