BASKETBALL: 'Resilient' AACC Can't Regain Winning Streak

Coming off of a loss, AACC's team started slow but fought their way back.

The following article was submitted to the Broadneck Patch by Duane Herr, physical education and athletic assistant at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). The Anne Arundel Community College men's basketball team hosted Cecil College over the weekend and despite their resilience lost the game 82-94. Cecil, who began the season very strong, had just ended an 11-game losing streak and entered the game with an 11-14 overall record and 6-8 MD Juco conference mark. They came out of the gates hot and built a substantial lead early on in the game. The Pioneers (13-6, 5-8), coming off of a loss to a very good Baltimore City team, started slow but fought their way back. BASKETBALL: AACC Bounces Back With Win Over Frederick

Despite the odds, Anne Arundel stuck to their game and continued their streak of competitive basketball.

The following article was submitted to the Broadneck Patch by Duane Herr, Physical Education and Athletic Assistant at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC). The men’s basketball team at Anne Arundel Community College bounced back into the win column with a 79-71 win over a tough Frederick Community College program. The win brings AACC’s record to 11-5 overall and 3-4 in conference play. Riding a four game losing streak, the Pioneers traveled to Frederick for their first of nine consecutive MD JUCO conference contests that will conclude their regular season schedule. Frederick, which stands at fourth in the MD JUCO standings with a 13-5 overall record and 6-3 conference record, figured to be the favorite in the 7pm game.  Despite the odds…

AACC Softball Player Recognized by Athletic Association

Elaine Nescio, a pitcher for The Pioneers, has led her team to victory this season.

Anne Arundel Community College Pioneer pitcher Elaine Nescio received national recognition as NCAA Division III softball pitcher of the week. Nescio, a right-handed pitcher from Pasadena, and a graduate of Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, was picked by the National Junior College Athletic Association for the award on Wednesday. The Pioneers are 14-2 overall, with with a 14-game winning streak. Nescio's record on the pitcher's mound is 11-1 with two saves. She has an ERA of 1.51 and leads the state in strikeouts with 106 over 65 games. The Pioneers are in first place in the Maryland Junior College Conference and ranked 10th in the nation.
