Weather Advisory for Anne Arundel Early Monday

The National Weather Service warns drivers may encounter slippery roads during the morning commute; Anne Arundel County Public Schools are on a semester break.

Much of Maryland—including Anne Arundel County—is under a winter weather advisory early Monday morning. The advisory is in effect from 5 a.m. until 10 a.m. in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince George's and St. Mary's counties, the National Weather Service (NWS) announced Sunday. Many local students already have off on Monday and Tuesday because a semester break was previously scheduled for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Temperatures are expected to be around 30 degrees, but morning commuters may encounter freezing rain mixed with sleet and possibly snow, according to NWS. Only a trace of accumulation is expected and winds from the south will gust to 10 mph, the advisory stated. The precipitation "will cause travel difficulties," …

Anne Arundel Schools Cancel Thursday Activities

Due to the forecast for inclement weather, all public school-sponsored activities scheduled for Thursday afternoon and evening are canceled.

Since the forecast for Thursday afternoon and evening includes the possibility of ice and snow, Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) canceled all after-school activities as follows: Due to inclement weather, all school-sponsored after-school activities scheduled for today, including evening middle school and high school classes, are canceled. Extended school day programs that are part of the regular Performing and Visual Arts magnet middle and high school curriculum, will be held as scheduled. For the status of activities sponsored by agencies other than Anne Arundel County Public Schools, including after-school day care, please check with that agency.
