A woman sustained serious injuries Wednesday following a crash on Mountain Road in the Lake Shore area. Division Chief Keith Swindle of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said the crash happened about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Mountain Road and Maryland Avenue. Emergency crews arrived to find that a car had struck a pole. Firefighters extricated a woman, approximately 25 years of age, from the car and took her Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Swindle said the woman's injuries were serious, but not life-threatening. CORRECTION: This story has been updated from a previous version to reflect that it occurred early Wednesday morning. Police say excessive speed could be the cause of the crash that happened early Thursday morning.
UPDATE (11 a.m.)—A Baltimore man died early Thursday morning after crashing his van into a tree on Mountain Road near Fairwood Road in Pasadena, according to police. According to a press release from Anne Arundel County police, they received two complaints of an intoxicated driver in a red Honda minivan with a Maryland tag at 12:56 a.m. Thursday. The van was reportedly crossing into Anne Arundel County from Baltimore City on Fort Smallwood Road near Cabot Road. A second complaint reported the same vehicle on Fort Smallwood Road near Kenton Road.
