Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman says all individual department heads and senior staff will be reviewed.
Anne Arundel County department heads and senior staff in the county executive's office will reportedly undergo reviews by a newly appointed Evaluation Committee. The committee, led by chief of staff David Cordle, will conduct reviews for 30 days and then report back what they learn about the senior staff to Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman. The most recent addition to the Anne Arundel team includes NASA contractor Richard Durkee as director of information technology.
On Wednesday, Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman named Davidsonville resident Richard Durkee the new director of information technology. Durkee, currently a NASA contractor, will lead the "modernization of county government" starting March 4, according to a press release. This proclamation comes after The Capital-Gazette reported that Neuman had to order a computer for her office and that former county executive John Leopold was not known to be "tech savvy." “Richard Durkee will develop a plan to make this County work smarter through better use of technology,” Neuman said in a prepared statement. “Data is the key to efficiency and measuring results.” In addition to his experience as a contractor providing information technology …

David Cordle of Annapolis was named chief of staff on Monday by Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman as she starts to organize a new leadership team for her administration. The appointment is effective immediately. Neuman described the 55-year-old Cordle as a "true public servant" in a prepared statement that also detailed Cordle's experience as chief criminal investigator for the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office and in government. He served nine years as an Annapolis alderman. In addition, Cordle served three commands in the U.S. Army and lives in Annapolis with his wife, Michelle. Cordle will reportedly lead an Evaluation Committee charged with reviewing individuals and agencies within Anne Arundel County government. …
