Georgia Family Wins Patch's Deck the House Contest

The Felix family from Dallas, GA received thousands of votes to win Patch's Deck the House contest and $100,000 for their local school district.

In this year's Deck the House contest, the second time was the charm. Joseph Felix's home in Dallas, GA outshined the other 24 finalists—including a Glen Burnie home—to win the 2012 Deck the House contest and $100,000 for the Paulding County school district in Georgia. After placing second in the nationwide voting in the 2011 contest, the Felix home received nearly 11,000 votes this year to finally win Deck the House. The home, with 100,000 computer animated holiday lights choreographed to Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You," received about 300 more votes than a home in Coventry, RI, which finished in second place. Patch is launching our annual Deck the House Contest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in America—the best “decked” house in the country. If this sounds like your house, upload a photo or video of your home to our contest page from Nov. 26 to Dec. 16 by clicking here. A Columbia home in Howard County was named a national finalist last year. Only residents of Patch towns are eligible to enter. We’ll select 24 regional finalists, and from those, pick one grand prize winner. Patch will pay up to $500 of the utility bill for each finalist, while our national winner will have $100,000 donated to his or her local school district. Deck Your House in Pasadena and Win $100,000 for Anne Arundel County Public Schools

Patch.com is launching a nationwide contest to find the best dressed home in its Patch communities, and the winner’s school district will receive $100,000—no strings attached. Here’s how the contest works. Beginning on Dec. 8 and continuing through Dec. 26, you can nominate your home by uploading a photo to the contest entry form on the site. During that same time period, you and your neighbors will also be able to vote for your favorite festive home. The winning entry will be forwarded to a national Patch judge that will select 24 finalists. Each finalist will receive $500 that they can apply to their December electric bill.
