How Will Sequestration Budget Impact Anne Arundel?

Officials at Fort Meade are preparing for the need to carry out missions with fewer resources and the rest of Anne Arundel County is waiting to see what the impact will be locally.

Gov. Martin O’Malley is set to address how the sequester could impact Maryland when he visits an Elkridge manufacturing business on Wednesday. With the threat of deep budget cuts lingering, officials at Fort Meade are preparing for the need to carry out missions with fewer resources.  Without action from Congress, the automatic cuts known as the sequester would go into effect on March 1, reducing spending by the state in a number of areas, including education, the environment, health, military and law enforcement, the White House said.
