Shopping for a cause never felt so good!
You have no doubt heard of shopping for a cure, but what about shopping for a cause right here in Pasadena? Gear up shopper moms and adventure moms, because this week’s Great Escape is going to take you to a place you have probably never been before. The community based, 501c3 organization called Partners in Care has a secret thrift store that many people do not even know about. Unlike any other thrift store experience, upon walking into the Partners in Care offices, the store is set up like a luxury boutique. Local Pasadena charities discuss what they do in order to kick off the holiday season.
Getting into the spirit of the holiday season is something that seems almost second nature to many of Pasadena's local charities. With that notion in mind, it is not uncommon to see a bell ringer with his or her red kettle from the Salvation Army standing outside of the typical Pasadena store in frigid temperatures collecting donations for charity. The bell ringers raise funds to help buy Christmas gifts, clothes, food, and gifts for needy families and nursing home residents. "Right now we're getting folks involved online at the JC Penney Angel Tree program where the proceeds will go to the needy families and once a donation is made JC Penney will ship items for free to the Salvation Army," said Major Coulson of the Salvation Army …
