UPDATE: Icy Roads Create Havoc, Teen Dies in Accident
Emergency officials reported more than 60 auto accidents Thursday morning, including a fatal collision in Gambrills.
UPDATE (4:30 p.m.)—Icy roads caused major problems on roadways in Anne Arundel County on Thursday morning and may have contributed to a fatal crash in Gambrills. Anne Arundel County police reported 60 accidents between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. Thursday morning, creating delays on nearly every major roadway including Interstate 97, Route 50 and Route 100. A Crofton teen died in a crash near Waugh Chapel Drive and Silver Way in Gambrills. Police announced Thursday afternoon that 18-year-old Alexis Lewis of Crofton died when her pickup truck collided with a cement truck on Waugh Chapel Drive. Police said the impact of the crash, which happened at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday, ejected her from the truck and she died on the scene. Click here to read more …
