A second Pasadena man was arrested for allegedly stealing marine batteries after another man was arrested last month.
A Pasadena teen was arrested by the Maryland Natural Resource Police (NRP) on Sunday in connection to a series of boat battery thefts in Anne Arundel County. This is the second arrest in the investigation stemming from incidents reported during the summer. NRP announced the first arrest of a Pasadena man last month. NRP officers obtained a warrant and arrested 18-year-old Ryan Andrew Valunas on Sunday. Valunas allegedly took boat batteries with 21-year-old Cody Jay Tyler Dudley, who was arrested on Oct. 24. Use the drop-off location search to find the nearest spot to your home.
The Drug Enforcement Administration and local police are cooperating in hosting a drug take-back initiative on Saturday, with drop-off locations stationed across the county. Anyone with unused and/or expired prescription medication is invited to bring them to the their local disposal unit, which are distributed across the county. To find the location nearest you, …

According to a press release from NRP, crews suspended the search at 8:30 p.m. Monday for a 27-year-old Philadelphia man who was sailing with others in the Six Foot Knoll area of the Chesapeake Bay north of Gibson Island. A storm with high wind gusts reportedly caused the sailboat to tilt to the right and a man and woman slid off into the water—but the woman was rescued. NRP said the U.S. Coast Goard and rescuers from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded after GPS coordinates were called in to the Coast Guard about 12:50 p.m. Monday, but the search was …

Follow best practices to stay safe during the Labor Day holiday weekend.
As summer winds down and locals head outdoors to enjoy Labor Day, officials are reminding people to use extra caution and stay safe during the holiday weekend. “Labor Day is the beginning of fall,” said Col. George F Johnson IV of the Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) in a press release. “And as the cooler weather sets in, Marylanders will continue to enjoy camping, boating and fishing in the cooler September weather, and, as various hunting seasons begin. We urge everyone to make safety the top priority while enjoying these activities.” NRP will reportedly step up its enforcement during the holiday weekend to help maintain safe waterways, especially when it comes to activities that contribute to boating accidents—such as alcohol, …
