Input Wanted: AACPS 'Day of Action' Set for June 8

The "Day of Action" is an opportunity for parents to share ideas with school officials on effectively advancing education in Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Do you have an idea that could help teachers and students excel? School officials in Anne Arundel County will hear such strategies in a "Day of Action" parents convention on June 8, in Annapolis. Parents from public housing communities around the county are invited to the event, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, at 121 South Villa Avenue. A panel will discuss education topics, and parents can participate in several sessions on supporting their students. Parents can also win prizes for participating in the activities and games, according to an AACPS press release. CHS Strides for Scholars

Nothing stops Pasadena parents from making a difference in the lives of their children.

Saturday morning the Chesapeake High School PTA hosted “Strides for Scholars” – a 5k, cross country race in which the proceeds would go towards scholarships for Chesapeake High School students headed to college.  Held at the shared campus of Chesapeake High, Middle and Elementary schools, “Strides for Scholars” was a great time for people in the community to meet and greet while doing something wonderful for a good cause.  Not only did the event fit in line with the school’s education initiatives, it also was a great push towards First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” fitness initiative. “This is our first year doing this,”  said Debbie Konczos, organizer of the event. “It sets a precedent for future events.” Despite the chilly mist in …
