Music Review: The Angry Sea by Brian LoPiccolo

An inside look at the music recorded by a Pasadena local.

Brian LoPiccolo, Pasadena resident and Associate Pastor at Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church (SPEP) has released a CD of rock infused music.  "The Angry Sea" is not a typical praise and worship CD, nor is it targeted to a Christian audience.  Some of the songs have autobiographical references and some are based on Scripture.  All of the music was written and performed by LoPiccolo on the piano and vocals.  He is joined by longtime friends and collaborators Josh Daby on drums and John Wenger on guitar, bass and backing vocals.  The album was recorded at Wenger’s Baltimore studio and LoPiccolo credits Wenger as “the technical mastermind” behind the musical arrangements.  The trio of musicians work well together to support …

A Pastor Makes a Splash with “The Angry Sea”

Pasadena resident, recording artist and Pastor, Brian LoPiccolo delivers a beautifully handcrafted collection of music based on the struggles and promises of life.

Brooklyn born Brian LoPiccolo started playing the piano at the age of eight.  From there, the man with the musical name would strive to define himself with music.  Instead, LoPiccolo reached a different peak on a radically different path.  The result is thoughtfully encapsulated in a locally produced CD, The Angry Sea.  Raised in Long Island by Italian American parents, LoPiccolo recounts, “My parents were not musical people, but my mother was a big fan of music.”  Exposed to a wide variety of music and encouraged by an uncle to take piano lessons, LoPiccolo went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Studies from The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.
