Coastal Storm Could Bring Rain, Snow

According to the National Weather Service, a coastal storm could affect the area later this week.

Another storm is headed our way, but according to the National Weather Service, it’s not expected to pack quite the punch that Hurricane Sandy did. The current forecast calls for rain showers beginning Wednesday, changing to a rain and snow mix at night, according to meteorologist Heather Sheffield. At this point, she said, NWS isn’t expecting any accumulation.  The storm will have a “tight gradient of precipitation,” Sheffield said, meaning, essentially, it’s not expected to be a large storm. The storm may extend as far west as the Interstate 95 Corridor, she said, though the location isn’t yet certain. Right now, models show the storm -- which is forming along the southeast coast – moving further east off the coast, “so that’s good for …

Steve - What about the other local Annapolitans who do not always drive that route and are unable to see the "bright yellow" signs. I believe these signs are not very visible, although the lane change signs may be. We are old time Annapolis and if they hadn't screwed with this road to begin with - with it's long, long, lines of traffic, maybe we wouldn't need those signs nor the lane change signs…   more ›

Ready, Set, Snow...

With the weather being more or less unpredictable, Pasadena residents and shopkeepers are more than prepared for whatever Mother Nature tosses their way.

As the weathermen and women were busy discussing how a snow storm was quickly brewing in the undertow, Pasadena shopkeepers and residents alike were plenty prepared for what mother nature had to offer. Unlike the last snow storm that caught many residents completely off guard, the snow and hail that came in yesterday seemed like pixie dust as opposed to a snowpocalypse.  Just when you thought the snow was here to stay, the sun came out – just around midday and melted most of the snow away. As schools quickly shut down, Pasadena residents braved the snow and made their way to the supermarkets and hardware store, to stock up on supplies and necessities. “You can never have enough salt, “ said James Lancaster, on his way into Ace Hardware …

Weathering the Storm

Getting around after a winter storm can be tough. Overnight patches of snow can easily turn into ice. Here are a few tips on how to get around after the storm.

Just when you thought that this winter would be mild, a mini snowpocalypse hits.  Déjà vu, anyone?  All around Pasadena, people have once again engaged in the great dig out.  As the snowplows were busy making sure that the main streets were crystal clear, people once again had to count their neighbors for assistance.  While schools were closed, federal and state workers were forced to weather the storm.  Commuters who make the trek daily to Washington, DC just to make ends meet were forced to find another way to work because two of the lines on the MARC commuter rail were shut down and the other was facing switch problems. Many locals suffered power outages last night.  Compound that with people waking up to find that the apartment …
