Peggy O’Neil Gilligan, a longtime Pasadena resident, donated $5,600 from CD sales to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
A Pasadena musician has donated the proceeds of her first CD to Hospice of the Chesapeake. Peggy O’Neil Gilligan, a Pasadena resident for 60 years and a Hospice volunteer, released Winter Sky, a collection of holiday songs, in November. The CD was sold at Treasures and other local business around Severna Park. According to a release from Hospice of the Chesapeake, Gilligan donated $5,600 from CD sales to the nonprofit headquartered in Annapolis. The donation will benefit the many programs and services offered by Hospice of the Chesapeake. Ravens Nest 10 donated $3,000 to Chesapeake Kids, a program service of Hospice of the Chesapeake.
Ravens Nest 10, based in Severna Park, donated $3,000 to a Hospice of the Chesapeake Program called Chesapeake Kids. This is the second year in a row the Severna Park crew has made a donation to Hospice, according to a release. In 2012 Ravens Nest 10 donated $2,000 to the program. Chesapeake Kids, a program service of Hospice of the Chesapeake, provides quality perinatal loss support to families and pediatric palliative care to children in Anne Arundel and Prince George’s County. Counseling and support programs for those grieving the loss of a loved one are also available through the Chesapeake Life Center. Long-time Pasadena resident Peggy O’Neil Gilligan has always enjoyed music. She studied at Peabody Prep, has sung in many a cappella groups and now she is releasing her first CD,—a collection of Christmas favorites—with all proceeds to benefit the Hospice of the Chesapeake. “The reason for initially recording the CD was I wanted to be able to leave a musical legacy for my grandchildren,” Gilligan said. “After it was in progress I decided I was doing it for them, but I want to see it give money to something good. So I decided to give proceeds to Hospice.” Hospice of the Chesapeake is currently located in Annapolis but will soon move to a new location that is right on the Severna Park/Pasadena line on Ritchie Highway. The organization that helps the Hospice of the Chesapeake has created a $250 sponsorship.
The Hospice Cup Inc., an Annapolis-based organization that raises funds and awareness for hospice care, has added a new sponsorship to their program. According to a press release, Hospice Cup Inc. has added a special sponsorship opportunity to its 31st annual sailing regatta fundraiser. The Memorial Sponsorship includes a special edition keepsake “burgee” with the name of a loved one imprinted. The Hospice Cup Inc. supports the Hospice of the Chesapeake, which will open soon in Pasadena. This $250 sponsorship also includes two tickets to the Shore Party with catered food, drinks and live band on the shores of Back Creek at Annapolis Sailing School, according to the release. The Hospice of the Chesapeake received a $2,500 check donation from The Baum Jackson Investment Group Charitable Foundation on Saturday. The foundation is a fund of the Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County, according to a press release from the Hospice of the Chesapeake. According to the release, the charitable foundation, which was created by employees of The Baum Jackson Investment Group, have designated their donation to support sending six children to Camp Nabi and Phoenix Rising. The events are held each year in August at the Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center by a team of professionals and trained volunteers. A ceremony was held Friday on the new campus located off of Ritchie Highway in Pasadena.
Tucked into the woods, nicely shaded, just off of Route 2 south in Pasadena, sits 6.5 acres of land that will soon become a wellness and education sanctuary for the community—by way of the Hospice of the Chesapeake. A groundbreaking was held Friday to officially begin the first phase of expansion and what will become (over the next few years): a bustling education, counseling, conference and all-around bereavement support and wellness haven for people of all ages. The three-story, 26,000-square-foot building once housed Harms & Associates engineering. When renovated, it will house the administrative staff of about 200 and a 5,000-square-foot conference center. Partners in Care Maryland, a community nonprofit helping older adults remain independent in their own homes, will hold a “Thank You Party” and ribbon-cutting from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 16 at their new offices, located at 90 B Ritchie Highway in Pasadena. The event will celebrate the businesses that donated time, talent and materials to renovate an empty building to house their offices, according to a news announcement.
