ANNAPOLIS, MD - Severna Park High School on Saturday won the county championships for girls and boys soccer, The Capital reported. The Falcons beat the South River High School Seahawks in both title matches.
"My freshman year: COVID, no county championship," Severna Park girls Defender Ryn Feemster told The Capital. "Sophomore year, it got canceled in the rain. This year was our only year we could go and win it. So we did."
The Capital said the unbeaten Severna Park girls won 3-0, and the boys won 3-2 in double overtime.
"I think we're one of the best teams in the state. I think we're trending up at the perfect time," Andrew Campbell, who scored two goals, including the boys game-winner, told The Capital. "We've got 25 guys who can all play, great depth and a perfect culture where everyone's gonna give their all. And a great coach."
The matches were part of the first-ever County Championship Showcase, where Annapolis High School facilities hosted 12 title matches in one day.
"Many thanks to the hundreds of #AACPSAwesome team members who came together Saturday to put on the County Championship Showcase at Annapolis High School," Anne Arundel County Public Schools said on Facebook. "It was a day of incredible competition by our student-athletes and opportunities for fans to watch multiple events! THANK YOU ALL!"
